Adoration Chapel Sign-Up
Form
Thank you for your commitment to spend time before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. It is a violation of Canon Law to leave the Blessed Sacrament exposed in the monstrance unattended. The Intent of Canon Law is that the Consecrated Host must be protected from theft, desecration and vandalism.
Chapel
Location and Entrance
The Chapel is
located on 215 Ridge Terrace, the northern side of the Kinane Center. The main
door for entrance is off of the Cabrini Garden. It will be open only from 6 AM
to 9 PM. The front entrance off of Ridge Terrace is open 24 hours a day, but
can be used only through a Security Key Card or a punch-code. Adorers who have
committed to hours from 9 PM to 6 AM will be given Security Key Cards and the
Code. Other parishioners who wish to get the Code in order to visit the Chapel
during the hours between 9 PM and 6 AM will have to call the Rectory before 8
PM at the above number.
Parking
There is a
parking lot on the south side of the Kinane Center off of Ridge Terrace.
Parking is also allowed on Ridge Terrace and in the Church parking lot.
Sign-In
The Sign-In book
is on the desk in the Chapel vestibule off of the entrance from the Cabrini
Garden. When you enter, please write your initials on the line for your hour.
Guests are also asked to sign in on the “Guest Column” side. Also, a Schedule
of all the Adorers is posted in the Chapel, as is the Substitute List.
Protocol
Please dress
respectably. Do not bring food or liquids into the Chapel. You will be in the
presence of Jesus, who deserves our most humble respect and courtesy.
As you enter and leave the Chapel, the customary way to greet Jesus is to genuflect on one or two knees or to bow if unable to genuflect.
Please maintain silence while in the Chapel. Persons who bring children must insure that they behave, are quiet and do not run around. This is to respect the Blessed Sacrament and the other adorers who may be present.
The Adorers for the 9 PM hour must, at the start of the hour, lock the door leading from the vestibule to the Cabrini Garden.
During nighttime hours (9 PM to 6 AM), the Adorers should respond to the doorbell if there is a visitor who wishes to get in.
Do not
leave in the Chapel, prayers you wish others to say, i.e., novena pass-along
prayers, other items, etc.
Prayer
You may use the rosaries, prayer books or other spiritual literature located in the Chapel Vestibule. Such material that is marked “Please do not remove from the Chapel” should remain in the Chapel and returned to the vestibule when leaving.
Music
No radios,
cameras or tape machines allowed. We ask that you respect everyone’s need for
quiet time in prayer.
Flowers
Do not place
flowers in the Chapel. The caretakers of the Chapel will provide flowers.
There are envelopes in the vestibule in which donations can be placed for
flowers or for any other items.
Substitutes
If you cannot
make your Holy Hour, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE TO FIND A REPLACEMENT
from the Substitute List. In addition, if there are other
adorers at the same hour, please let them know that you will not be there. For
your convenience, a Substitute List can be picked up in the Chapel vestibule.
In an emergency, contact your Divisional Leader or one of their assistants
listed below.
Guidelines For Use Of E-Mail Substitute List
An important aspect of being a committed adorer is to be true to the commitment for our specified adoration hour. On some occasions, when unable to honor our hour, we use the Adoration Substitution List to insure that someone will serve in our place.
The e-mail list of substitute adorers is available for use by all committed adorers to make securing a substitute, when needed, as convenient as possible. The e-mail list is not intended to be used exclusively; instead the e-mail list is a tool to be used in connection with the phone method of obtaining a substitute. Please keep in mind, not all substitutes have e-mail addresses.
When using the substitute adorers e-mail list to secure a substitute, committed adorers are requested to follow these guidelines:
1.
The e-mail list of substitutes is not intended to
be used exclusively. When possible please
call substitutes who do not have access to e-mail.
2.
In order to try to target substitutes
appropriately, e-mail requests for substitutes should be
sent:
a.
First, to the appropriate time category personnel
(Morning, Afternoon, Evening or
Night) for which a substitute is required,
and if no positive responds are received,
then,
b. Second, the personnel in one or more of the remaining time categories.
3.
Once you receive a positive response from a
substitute, confirm to all others that you
originally e-mailed or contacted by phone, that you secured
your substitute.
4. Divisional Managers should be made aware of e-mail address changes.
We want to be sure that substitutes without e-mail be phoned to substitute. They have volunteered their commitment to Our Lord so please do not exclude them from this service at the time you are looking for a substitute.
This system is offered for your use. Please utilize it according to your comfort level.
Bathroom
There is a
bathroom off of the Chapel through the doorway on the right side.
Miscellaneous
The Chapel
is closed each Friday from 6:00 AM to 7:00 AM for cleaning. There is a
container for Lost and Found articles in the Sacristy by the double door
closet.
